A Photo Album from the Web?

I make no claims for any of these pictures, and have gathered them from the web without concern over their veracity. Still, they show many common features that suggest they were not digitally remastered or touched up. These are the best I can do to see the landscape without actually going there.

The photos are two to three minute exposures that were taken in sequence. Supposedly, there should not be any lights in this area. Regardless, what happened to the first light in Figure 2?
