DOG MEADOW "GHOST" LIGHTS Near Eagle River, Wisconsin

One or more strange lights have been appearing in this area near Eagle River, Wisconsin since at least 1966. There have been a variety of theories that claim to explain the lights from "swamp gas" to usual railroad worker with a ghostly lantern.... but actually no one knows why these lights appear or what causes them. The light usually appears on the northwest horizon and northeast of the area known as "Dog Meadow", a marshy lowland that is about thirty miles from Eagle River. The light is said to appear as a white, glowing orb and sometimes it changes to red. It is also said to occasionally break off into two smaller lights. According to reports from the region, the lights can be seen almost any clear night of the year.

Travel north of Eagle River to Watersmeet. Go 4-5 miles north of town on Route 45 and turn on Robbins Pond Road. Drive up just over the 2nd hill and park. There is a road block that prevents driving all the way through. This is the area where the ghost lights are seen.
