The 'Millenium' TV program claims that terrible things will happen on May 5, 2000. Is this true?

Wrong! You can claim anything you want. As for Millenium, they know full well they will not be on the TV by that date, so they have nothing to loose by scaring the pants off of people, and in terms of ratings right now, everything to gain! There will be an interesting grand conjunction of most of the planets (see above drawing for a view), but as usual, planets vave no physical effect on us so there will be no tidal waves, shifts in the Earth's polar caps, or massive earthquakes. These things have been predicted by the 'loonies' and no one ever seems to learn from previous experiences that this kind of stuff doesn't happen.

Please remember that what you see and hear on TV, especially in programs such as 'Millennium' and 'X-files', is often not correct, or is simply added for entertainment value. These are not meant to be documentaries about science. I am writing this revised reply on May 15th, 2000 and there were no natural calamities that occurred on May 5th.
