Is it true that Venus, Mars and Jupiter will be very close together in the sky in the year 2015?

Yes. Venus and Mars will be in conjunction on February 21 and November 3 with separations of 28 and 42 minutes of arc ( lunar diameter = 30 minutes of arc) Venus and Jupiter will be in conjunction on July 1 and October 26 with separations of 24 minutes and 1 degree. Mars and Jupiter will be in conjunction on October 17 with a separation of 25 minutes of arc. So, the October 17 - November 3 period should be rather spectacular with Mars, Jupiter and Venus very close to each other.
