Did Mark Twain (1835-1910) really get born and die during the apparitions of Halley's Comet?

Mark Twain was born on November 16, 1835 when Halley's Comet was at its perihelion distance. He died on April 20, 1910 when Halley's Comet was again at its perihelion. Pretty remarkable. If he had been a religious figure, this might have been seen as a sign of his divinity! Comets, however, have almost always been identified with evil or sinister happenings...
