The US Nautical Almanac shows nothing unusual happening in the solar system on Tuesday, March 9, 1909. As seen from the Earth, there were no interesting conjunctions between the planets on this date. As seen from the heliocentric perspective, the following is a crude plot of the plane of the solar system as seen from the north ecliptic pole looking 'down'

I would say that this is probably about the worst year for 'alignments' in the solar system, but is probably not too far from being a typical year. The planets are scattered through out the plane of the solar system, and are not even all in the same 90 degree quadrant! The apparent linear arrangement with Jupiter Earth Mercury and Venus doesn't mean much dynamically.
