A star system is a collection of 2 or more stars. Sirius actually consists of two stars, called Sirius-A and Sirius-B. It is Sirius-A that we see with the naked eye. Sirius-B is a white dwarf companion star to Sirius-A. Colloquially 'Sirius' is a single star, but to astronomers it is a star system.
