Mission...............Total mass Apollo 11 21.7 kilograms Apollo 12 34.4 Apollo 14 42.9 Apollo 15 76.8 Apollo 16 94.7 Apollo 17 110.5 ......................................The total mass was 381.69 kilograms or 841.6 pounds. It was delivered in 2196 original samples at a cost for the Apollo program of 24 billion dollars or 28,500 dollars per pound. By 1975 this had been split into 35,600 samples. 5 kilograms were consigned to sample displays in museums around the world for public viewing and even touching! A total of 5.1 percent or 19.3 kilograms have been allocated for scientific study, the rest is archived untouched for posterity. About 1.64 kilograms ( 3.6 pounds) were destroyed in laboratory testing.
The Soviet Luna 16 and 20 missions returned a total of 130 grams to Earth from the Mare Fecunditatus region.
